A group of inventive Ghanaians in Sunyani-Odumase has introduced a new version of the popular “Pragya” tricycle, dubbed “The IGP 1,” designed to carry over six passengers—significantly more than the traditional model.
The locally crafted tricycle, showcased in a viral video, features a sturdier frame, spacious seating, and enhanced safety features tailored for Ghana’s rugged roads.
The creators have called on the renowned Ghanaian inventor, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, to lend his expertise and support to improve the vehicle’s design and expand production.
This initiative has been praised for its potential to address transportation challenges in rural and urban areas while promoting local manufacturing.
Community members expressed hope that with the right support, the “IGP 1” could become a symbol of Ghanaian ingenuity and reduce the country’s reliance on imported tricycles.
The project has sparked discussions on the importance of government and private sector backing for grassroots innovations.
Many Ghanaians are optimistic that the “IGP 1” could revolutionize public transport and boost the local economy.
