The historic 77-year-old Samreboi-Amoaku steel bridge in the Amenfi West District collapsed yesterday, trapping a truck loaded with cocoa.
The truck, which was transporting cocoa from Mumuni to Samreboi, plunged partially into the Samre River when the bridge gave way.
Several bags of cocoa were lost as they sank into the river. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
The bridge, constructed 77 years ago, had been damaged in September by a heavy truck and was recently repaired.
Its collapse has disrupted transportation in the area and sparked concerns about the structural stability of the repairs.
