The Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State remanded Olayemi Olawale, 32, who is accused of kidnapping a businessman, at the Okitipupa Correctional Center.
Ondo State police officers charged Olawale with kidnapping on one count before Chief Magistrate D.O Ogunfuyi.
The defendant allegedly committed the crime on August 16, 2023, at around 11:00 a.m., near the Bovas Filling Station, on the Ore/Benin express road in Ondo State, according to the prosecutor, Inspector James Usifo.

Usifo said that the defendant made an effort to kidnap Akeem Ganiyu, who operates a bakery, factory, gas station, and car fleets in Ofosu.
He claimed that the defendant committed the crime alongside Awosika Olalekan and Olabamijo Iseoluwa, who were riding along with him on his motorcycle.
The indictment states that the offense violates Section 509 of the Ondo State Criminal Code, Volume 1 Laws of Nigeria, 2006. But the accused entered a not guilty plea.
In his decision, Chief Magistrate Ogunfuyi remanded the defendant to the Okitipupa Correctional Facility pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and continued the matter till mention on September 28, 2023.
