
<p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>The Office of the Special Prosecutor has cleared Charles Adu Boahen, a former state minister in the finance ministry, of all corruption-related charges (OSP). </strong></p>



<p>The ;OSP ;said ;in ;a ;report ;that ;although ;Adu ;Boahen&#8217;s ;activities ;are ;closely ;associated ;with ;corruption ;because ;they ;entail ;influence ;peddling ;or ;trading ;in ;influence, ;there ;is ;no ;legal ;prohibition ;on ;them ;that ;the ;OSP ;is ;required ;to ;further ;address. </p>



<p>Based on that calculation, the Special Prosecutor orders the investigation into the claims of corruption and offenses related to corruption involving Charles Adu Boahen to be closed at this time. </p>

<p>The accusations made against Charles Adu Boahen in the Galamsey Economy exposé were the subject of an inquiry launched by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) sometime last year.<br><br>“The Office of the Special Prosecutor has promptly commenced investigations into the action of Charles Adu Boahen and any other implicated person contained in the investigative exposé Galamsey Economy,” said a statement released by the OSP on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.<br><br>On Monday (14 November 2022), President Akufo-Addo terminated the Adu Boahen’s appointment following reports of allegations set out in a documentary by the investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.</p>

<p>&#8220;The ;president ;spoke ;with ;Adu ;Boahen ;after ;learning ;of ;the ;accusations ;made ;against ;the ;minister ;in ;the ;exposé ;Galamsey ;Economy.</p>



<p> He then decided to end his appointment and refer the case to the Special Prosecutor for additional investigations,&#8221; the Presidency said in a statement.</p>
