Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has officially announced the start of her second Guinness World Record (GWR) Singathon attempt, set to begin today, November 11, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.
The event, which will be broadcast live on GTV, marks Aduonum’s renewed pursuit of setting a world record for continuous singing.
Previously, Aduonum indicated in interviews, including one with Akoma FM’s Tony Best, that the attempt would take place in December.
However, she decided to reschedule, potentially due to the upcoming December elections, and confirmed the new start date for today.
While the location for the Singathon has not yet been disclosed, Aduonum hinted that her team is considering Kumasi as the venue, where they are conducting feasibility studies to determine the best spot within the city.
In her interview, Aduonum explained her commitment to continuing her quest for the world record despite her initial unsuccessful attempt.
“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World Record holder,” she said, adding that the event will also strengthen her ambassadorial role in promoting Ghanaian tourism and culture.
Further details about the event will be shared on her social media pages and through official channels.
