In a surprise move, the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), founded by the late Akua Donkor, has officially endorsed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the December 7, 2024, general elections.
This endorsement comes on the heels of the disqualification of the GFP’s presidential candidate, Philip Appiah Kubi, also known as Roman Fada, by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to irregularities in his nomination forms.
According to Jerry Addo, the GFP’s Deputy General Secretary, the party’s decision to support the NDC was driven by shared values and policy goals, rather than external influences.
Addo emphasized that the GFP had carefully reviewed the manifestos and policies of various political parties and candidates before making their choice.

“The Ghana Freedom Party is supporting the candidature of H.E. John Dramani Mahama on Saturday. He is poised to capture power to save Ghanaians,” Addo declared.
The GFP’s endorsement of the NDC is a significant move, as it rallies the party’s supporters to back John Dramani Mahama and NDC parliamentary candidates in the upcoming elections.
This alliance also strengthens the growing coalition of voices supporting the NDC’s vision for Ghana.
The NDC’s manifesto, as outlined by John Mahama, promises to fix the economy and create prosperity for all Ghanaians.
With the GFP’s endorsement, the NDC’s chances of winning the upcoming elections may have just received a significant boost.
