The Ghanaian artist responsible for crafting the statue of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has spoken publicly for the first time about his work.
In an interview on Dek360, the sculptor, whose identity remains largely unknown, confirmed that he created the statue of Ghana’s first gentleman. He shared insights into the creation process, admitting that the statue was produced under significant time pressure.
According to him, the tight timeline was driven by the president’s scheduled visit, during which the unveiling of the statue was planned.

“The statue had to be ready before the president left; otherwise, the entire effort would have been futile,” he explained.
He further disclosed that the statue was completed and unveiled on the same day, underscoring the urgency of the project.
This revelation has sparked conversations about the challenges artists face when working on high-profile projects with tight deadlines.
