Following a tweet in which he responded to the recent brutalization of nonviolent protestors by the Ghana Police Service, Sarkodie has come under fire from users of social media.
Netizens criticised Sarkodie’s calm and collected post that offered some moderate criticism of the administration and called him out for being a hypocrite.
As was previously said, the police used a protest called “Occupy Julorbi House” on September 21, 2023, as an excuse to go on an arresting rampage.
The police dispersed the demonstration and detained the demonstrators, some of whom were even physically attacked, including well-known journalist Bridget Otoo.
Many well-known people have reacted by criticising the police and the current administration for their harsh response to what was fundamentally a peaceful rally.
Writing, “You can only be scared of a peaceful protest when you know you deserve otherwise,” Sarkodie also expressed his opinion.
His lacklustre statement drew criticism from social media users who pointed out that it would have been worse if the NDC had still been in power.
