Anthrax Disease In Ghana - 'Suspend Eating Meat', Minister Urges

Deputy Minister for Crops, Food, and Agriculture, Hon. Yaw Addo Frimpong has called on Ghanaians to suspend the eating of meat amidst the scares of the Anthrax Disease outbreak in Ghana.

According to the minister, the outbreak of Anthrax disease can be worrying however, it can be contained easily.

Calling further for calm, Hon Yaw Addo Frimpong called for the education of the masses.

He further urged Ghanaians to suspend eating meat for a while until the heat diminishes.

What Is Anthrax Disease

Anthrax is a serious infectious disease caused by gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria known as Bacillus anthracis. It occurs naturally in soil and commonly affects domestic and wild animals around the world. People can get sick with anthrax if they come in contact with infected animals or contaminated animal products.

Symptoms depend on the route of infection. They can range from a skin ulcer with a dark scab to difficulty breathing.
