Go Back to Your Hometowns and Farm; Leave Kantamanto For Us’ – Ga Woman to Kantamanto Market Traders

In a viral video, a Ga woman has called on former Accra mayor Alfred Oko Vanderpuye and Odododiodio MP Nii Lante Vanderpuye to reclaim the Kantamanto fire site lands for the Ga people.

She claims the land belongs to the indigenous Ga community and not the traders, who are predominantly Akans from the Ashanti and Eastern regions.

Expressing frustration, she accused these traders of disrespecting the Ga people and suggested they return to their regions to focus on farming instead.

The remarks follow accusations by some traders blaming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the recent devastating fire at Kantamanto, which left many struggling.

The woman’s comments have ignited a broader discussion about land ownership, ethnic tensions, and the treatment of the Ga community in Accra’s commercial spaces.

While her identity remains undisclosed, her message has sparked mixed reactions online. Some sympathize with her sentiments, citing long-standing grievances over Ga lands, while others criticize her for fueling divisive rhetoric.

This incident underscores ongoing challenges surrounding urban land disputes and inter-ethnic relations in Ghana’s capital.
