In a scathing critique, popular radio host Captain Smart has warned against electing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as president, cautioning that it would be a “disastrous” move for Ghana.
On his Onua Maakye Show, Captain Smart accused Bawumia of being complicit in President Akufo-Addo’s alleged poor governance, suggesting that his presidency would perpetuate and cover up Akufo-Addo’s misdeeds.
He also labeled Bawumia as part of the “Akyem Mafias,” a term implying a cabal of powerful individuals from the Akyem region.

Captain Smart further argued that Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen would have addressed corruption within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if chosen as flagbearer instead of Bawumia. He implied that the party’s executives chose Bawumia to avoid accountability for their corrupt actions.
Captain Smart’s comments have ignited a heated debate among political analysts and citizens, with some sharing his concerns and others dismissing his claims as unfounded.
