Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has made bold declarations about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the current Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a recent interview on UTV, Sammy Gyamfi alleged that Dr. Bawumia’s central campaign message of digitalization is nothing but a deception.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, Dr. Bawumia is taking advantage of Ghanaians who do not understand the concept of digitalization. He claimed that Dr. Bawumia’s only attempt at digitalization was the failed COVID-19 app, which he alleged was a waste of resources.
Sammy Gyamfi’s comments are likely to spark a heated debate in the run-up to the 2024 general elections.
As the Communications Director of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi has been at the forefront of the party’s campaign efforts, and his comments are seen as a strategic move to discredit Dr. Bawumia’s campaign message.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team has yet to respond to Sammy Gyamfi’s allegations. However, the NPP’s Director of Communications, Dennis Edward Aboagye, has previously defended Dr. Bawumia’s digitalization record, describing him as a “visionary leader” who has transformed Ghana’s digital landscape.
The debate over digitalization is expected to be a key issue in the 2024 general elections, with both the NDC and NPP presenting competing visions for Ghana’s digital future.
