Bawumia Lost The Election Due To Visits To Churches And Shrines – Kwaku Manu claims

Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has sparked a heated debate by attributing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s defeat in the 2024 presidential election to his visits to churches and traditional shrines.

According to Kwaku Manu, these actions may have alienated Bawumia’s core Muslim supporters, contributing significantly to his loss.

During his campaign, Bawumia, a devout Muslim, made several high-profile visits to Christian churches and traditional shrines, including prayers at the shrine of the wulomo, a traditional priest, and at Adom Kyei Duah’s church.

Kwaku Manu believes that these actions were a strategic misstep, suggesting that they might have caused Muslim voters to feel disconnected from Bawumia.

Kwaku Manu’s claims highlight the deep loyalty of Muslim voters to their religion. He argues that Bawumia’s outreach to other religious groups might have been perceived as a betrayal by his Muslim base, leading them to shift their support to John Mahama, who ultimately won the election with a significant margin.

The final election results, announced by the Electoral Commission on December 9, 2024, showed John Dramani Mahama securing 56.55% of the votes, while Bawumia garnered 41.61%.

Kwaku Manu’s analysis suggests that Bawumia’s attempts to appeal to a broader religious audience may have backfired, costing him crucial votes from his own community.

It is worth noting that pre-election polls had shown a close contest between Bawumia and Mahama, with some polls even predicting a Bawumia victory. However, the actual results told a different story, with Mahama emerging as the clear winner.
