During the Occupy Julorbi House demonstration on Friday, protesters braved Accra’s torrential downpours to continue their demonstration.

They made the decision to transform the location into a type of funfair atmosphere in order to keep warm while the heavens rained down on them, refusing to give up their protest in the face of the downpour.

The breathtaking scene was captured in a number of viral videos on social media.

The protesters sung and danced in the rain while grooving to Banzy Banero’s “Hossana,” showcasing their unwavering enthusiasm in the face of overwhelming odds.

Interestingly, some social media users condemned the protestors for converting their serious demonstration into a “jama session,” perhaps because they were too dense to understand the gravity of their defiance.

It has become commonplace to see remarks on social media criticising and dismissing the protests.

Such commenters, however, rather reveal their lack of seriousness and intelligence by failing to understand that the protestors persisted in their cause in the face of such overwhelming obstacles.

Whatever form it takes, showing defiance by refusing to let the rain stop you creates a much better impression than ceasing your protest because of the weather or just remaining motionless as it pours down on you.

Yes, things are difficult and we are still protesting, but the picture of the protesters dancing in the rain demonstrates that the Ghanaian spirit will never be crushed.

Those who don’t understand this are, quite simply, not intelligent enough to understand symbols.
