Because I Like My Best Friend So Much, I Abducted Her 10-Month-Old Baby, The Suspect Admits (Details)

Patience Solomon, who kidnapped a friend’s 10-month-old infant in Jos approximately a month ago and fled to the Ikorodu district of Lagos State, has been detained by police in Plateau State.

The woman, a mother of two, claimed she turned herself in after realizing that leaving Jos with the infant she says she “loves very much” was wrong, despite the Plateau State Police who paraded the woman on Monday, September 4, reporting that she was apprehended.

She claimed, “I didn’t mean any harm when I left with the baby; the mother of the infant is my friend, and I genuinely love the baby. I had to go ahead without telling  the mother because I knew she would not be in favor.

. I had to go with the infant but I didn’t inform the mother since I knew she wouldn’t agree.

Because it was widely reported on social media that I had stolen the baby, I had to go to the police in Lagos, who gave me instructions on what to do. When I arrived in Jos, the police here picked me up at the park. While I was in Lagos, I was constantly calling, chatting, or doing video calls with the mother to let her know how the baby was doing. I returned on my own; I wasn’t detained.

The mother of the infant, who was spotted at the State Police headquarters hugging her child, expressed happiness at being reunited with her child.

She stated, “She has been playing with the baby but the day she went with her, she did not tell me. We live in the same compound and work in the same shop. She said that she simply loved to stay with the kid when I requested that she return my child. Although she looked after the baby, I did not allow her to accompany her, so I am relieved to have my child back.
