Bridget Otoo, a news anchor for Metro TV in Ghana and a well-known media figure in the country, has described how some police officers mistreated her at a recent protest by activists.
Today, September 21st 2023, activists organised the #OccupyJulorbiHouse (Julorbi, a corruption of Jubilee House, to wit: “son of a thief”) protest.
However, police officials dispersed the demonstration and detained people there; the majority of them were taken to a number of police stations scattered throughout the nation’s capital.
TV host Bridget Otoo was one of the people who was arrested and mistreated.
She added that several of the protesters’ phones had also been taken by the police.
Bridget described how she attempted to stop a young man from being taken away by some police officers for committing no crime, causing her dress to rip.
Bridget Otoo expressed her dissatisfaction with the way the security guards handled the entire situation.
