A violent armed robbery unfolded at the Humble Gold Buying Enterprise in Wassa Dompoase, Amenfi East Municipality of Ghana’s Western Region.
Around 1 p.m. yesterday, seven armed men stormed the shop, targeting its valuable contents of gold and cash.
The assailants, wielding guns and knives, confronted three shopkeepers present at the time, demanding keys to the safe housing the precious metals and money.
In a horrifying turn of events, one shopkeeper was shot twice after denying knowledge of the keys’ whereabouts and is now fighting for his life in critical condition.
The other two employees also suffered injuries from gunshots and knife attacks during the struggle, though they are reported to be in stable condition.
Despite the resistance, the robbers successfully obtained the keys and managed to escape with two sacks containing gold and money.
The brazen daylight robbery has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the risks faced by businesses dealing in precious metals.
