DJ Akademiks has been indefinitely banned from Twitch following a controversial livestream where he engaged in sexually explicit dialogue with 15-year-old streamer NourGxd, sparking widespread accusations of grooming and predatory behavior.
During the stream, Akademiks asked the teen invasive questions, including whether he would allow another person to engage in sexual acts with him, despite NourGxd’s visible discomfort and repeated rejections. The incident, which occurred on January 23, 2025, drew immediate backlash, with FaZe Clan member PlaqueboyMax publicly condemning Akademiks’ actions as “nasty” and urging him to stop targeting minors.
Akademiks initially defended his behavior as “trolling” and claimed critics—including Kendrick Lamar fans—were orchestrating a smear campaign, but later issued a half-hearted apology calling it a “regrettable moment”.

The fallout escalated as sponsors, including Cash App and Manscaped, severed ties with the embattled streamer, citing violations of their ethics policies.
This marks Akademiks’ fourth Twitch ban since 2023, with prior suspensions linked to collaborations with banned creators like Adin Ross and discussions of explicit content.
The controversy has reignited debates about accountability on streaming platforms, with advocates demanding stricter enforcement of protections for minors and clearer consequences for creators who exploit their influence.
Meanwhile, Akademiks’ attempts to shift blame have further eroded his credibility, leaving his future in the streaming industry uncertain.
