A major shake-up has hit Angel TV, as controversial broadcast journalist, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, has reportedly been dismissed from the network.
Although Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) has yet to confirm the news, multiple sources suggest that Afrifa-Mensah’s departure is linked to recent controversies and internal disagreements.
Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, known for hosting the morning show “Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ” on Angel FM/TV, has been a polarizing figure in Ghanaian media.
His direct approach to socio-political issues has often placed him at odds with various individuals and groups.
Notably, he has engaged in public feuds with fellow journalists, including an exchange with Kwami Sefa Kayi, whom Afrifa-Mensah accused of hypocrisy and double standards.
Recently, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah faced backlash from the Ga community after making comments perceived as disrespectful towards their traditional leaders.
A group of Ga youth stormed the premises of Angel FM/TV, demanding an apology from him. However, Afrifa-Mensah responded by labeling the protesters as “spineless cowards,” further escalating tensions.
Additionally, the Nungua Traditional Council summoned him over alleged defamatory comments, indicating the extent of discontent his statements have caused within traditional circles.
These incidents have reportedly strained Afrifa-Mensah’s relationship with ABN’s management, leading to his alleged dismissal.
As of now, neither Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah nor ABN has issued an official statement regarding his employment status.
