During a Jeans Carnival held to celebrate Students Week, a Rivers State University, RSU, Port Harcourt student who was thrilled died.
It was learned that the incident took place on September 7, 2023, on a Thursday.
The student reportedly collapsed while sitting on the side of the car and lost his balance.
The student, whose identity is still unknown, was taken to the hospital right after, but he passed away from his wounds.
Following the incident, Dr. Sydney Enyindah, the university’s registrar, said in a memo that additional events commemorating Students Week would be suspended.
The memo states that the remaining events of Student Union Week have been immediately suspended “following the unfortunate and sad incident which occurred during the “Jeans Carnival” on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, resulting in the death of a student.”
