Roman Fada, born Phillip Appiah Kubi, has been barred from running as the presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) in the 2024 elections following his disqualification by Ghana’s Electoral Commission.
According to a report by 3news, the Electoral Commission identified multiple errors and “illegalities” on Roman Fada’s nomination forms. These irregularities ultimately led to his disqualification, as confirmed by TV3’s Crosby Annan.
The disqualification follows a recent notification from the GFP to the Electoral Commission, designating Roman Fada as the party’s new presidential candidate after the passing of its founder and original candidate, Akua Donkor.
Donkor, who passed away on October 28, 2024, at Ridge Hospital in Accra, had previously chosen Roman Fada as her running mate.
The GFP had submitted an official letter to the commission on November 4, 2024, to finalize Roman Fada’s candidacy. However, this latest development leaves the party without a candidate in the upcoming election.
