Baltasar Engonga, a well-known figure in Equatorial Guinea, has been detained on charges related to embezzlement, according to Attorney General Nzang Nguema.
The Attorney General informed state television, TVGE, that if Engonga is found to have a sexually transmitted disease (STD), additional charges related to public health violations may be filed against him.
This news comes just days after authorities allegedly discovered over 400 explicit videos involving Engonga and prominent women in the country.
The scandal has drawn significant public attention, fueling debates around issues of corruption and accountability. While many await further details, the case has reportedly strained relations within political circles, given Engonga’s connections to influential figures.
Attorney General Nguema assured citizens that a thorough investigation is underway and emphasized a commitment to transparency and justice.
This high-profile scandal has sparked widespread concern in Equatorial Guinea as new updates are expected in the coming weeks.
