Preparations for the one-week celebration of Akua Donkor, the late flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), have been shared on social media, marking the start of final rites for the prominent political figure.
The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024, and will be held at the Ejuratia Funeral Grounds from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friends, family, supporters, and the general public are expected to gather to pay their respects.
Akua Donkor passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 83. According to reports, she fell ill days prior and was admitted to the Nsawam Government Hospital.
Due to her critical condition, she was transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), where she ultimately passed away. Some have expressed concern that prolonged hours in an ambulance may have contributed to her untimely death.
Akua Donkor was a well-known figure in Ghanaian politics, advocating for grassroots representation and championing issues that resonated with many Ghanaians. Her one-week celebration will honor her legacy and contributions to the country.
