A dramatic scene unfolded at the Parliament House yesterday when First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo confronted Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, over his scathing remarks about President Nana Akufo-Addo.
The confrontation occurred as the First Lady was leaving the Parliament chamber, where the President had delivered his final State of the Nation Address.
Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah’s speech, which criticized the President’s report, had apparently not gone down well with Mrs. Akufo-Addo, who saw it as a personal attack on her husband.
According to eyewitnesses, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah had described President Akufo-Addo’s government as the “worst” and “full of lies.” He also questioned why the President had failed to include his promise to build a National Cathedral for God in his report.
The First Lady, visibly upset, confronted him, telling him not to use such language against her husband again. The situation was eventually diffused when Afenyo Markin intervened and escorted the First Lady away.
In a separate incident, Mrs. Akufo-Addo was also seen briefly walking out on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, while muttering her disapproval of the proceedings.
