The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a heartfelt appeal to citizens nationwide to invest in essential life-saving tools to mitigate the devastating effects of fires.
This call follows a series of recent fire incidents resulting in significant loss of life and property.
The GNFS emphasized the importance of proactive fire safety measures, stressing that it cannot fulfill its core mandate without the necessary equipment. In a recent post, the Service noted that government efforts alone are insufficient without citizen support.
The GNFS highlighted the critical need for households and businesses to be equipped with basic fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and fire blankets.
Recent months have seen a worrying increase in fire outbreaks, particularly in residential areas and markets, with a lack of preparedness and inadequate fire safety measures identified as key contributing factors.
To address this, the GNFS is calling on the government to provide subsidies for fire safety equipment, making them more affordable for the average Ghanaian and encouraging more people to invest in these essential tools.
The Service’s plea is simple: “Who will be kind enough to buy some of these life-saving tools to enable us to save more lives in Ghana?”
