Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Sofo Kyiri Abosom, the leader and founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), has declared that if he becomes president, he will remove President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from his father’s residence.
The outspoken politician made this pronouncement during an interview on Kasapa FM.
According to Sofo Kyiri Abosom, President Akufo-Addo continues to live in a house built by his father on land that, he claims, belongs to the state. He accused the president of enriching himself and his family with state funds, while still residing in the family home.
The GUM leader further alleged that Akufo-Addo’s father acquired the land improperly, adding that it rightfully belongs to the state.
“If I become president, I will sack Akufo-Addo from his father’s house. That house was built on state land, and it is unfair that he still lives there after using state money to enrich himself and his family,” Sofo Kyiri Abosom stated.
He also vowed to demolish the house and repurpose the land for a developmental project that would benefit Ghanaians, though he did not provide specific details on the type of project he plans to initiate.
His comments have sparked debates across political circles, with some questioning the validity of his claims and others supporting his call for greater accountability from public officials.
Sofo Kyiri Abosom, who rose to prominence as a religious leader before venturing into politics, has positioned himself as a voice for change in Ghana’s political landscape.
In recent years, he has been an outspoken critic of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, promising to prioritize the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians if elected to office.
