Independent Candidate For New Juaben Promises Constituents Rent-Free Housing To Support Marriages Involving Persons with Disabilities If Voted Into Power

In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at combating the stigma surrounding disability, Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, an independent parliamentary candidate for New Juaben North in the Eastern Region, has pledged to offer rent-free accommodation to able-bodied individuals who marry persons with disabilities.

Mr. Yeboah, an internationally recognized athlete and advocate for disability rights, made this announcement during a recent parliamentary dialogue hosted by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

He emphasized that this initiative seeks to dismantle long-standing societal stigmas and empower persons with disabilities in marriage and social participation.

“Many persons with disabilities struggle to find partners due to stigma,” Yeboah stated. “For decades, families and friends discouraged able-bodied individuals from marrying persons with disabilities. This perception must end. Marrying a person with a disability does not imply that your children will inherit any disability. Therefore, I will provide rent-free housing to any able-bodied person who marries a person with a disability and create job opportunities for them, enabling them to care for their families.”

Beyond this initiative, he outlined other plans to boost job creation and support agricultural development within New Juaben North, emphasizing his commitment to inclusive community development.
