
<p class="has-medium-font-size">A 47-year-old security officer, Jacob Obomerelu, has been arrested for allegedly raping her daughter as she blames the deed on the devil.</p>



<p>Spokesman of the NSCDC in the state, Babawale Afolabi, disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the suspects’ workplace, 24, Awolowo Street, Tanke area of Ilorin metropolis, which also serves as his residence.</p>

<p>According to him, “On Tuesday 7th December 2021, we were tipped off by one Alhaja Mariam Bello, who claimed that Modupe who happened to be her adopted daughter was raped by her biological father.</p>



<p>“Alhaja Mariam Bello added that the victim used to live with her at her Isale Gaa Akanbi residence but moved out to stay with her dad after a minor misunderstanding between her and the victim.”</p>



<p>Babawale further disclosed that Modupe had a minor misunderstanding with Alhaja who adopted her in 2017 when her mother separated from Jacob and since then was staying with the woman.</p>



<p>He said, “the victim joined her father in the gatehouse where he was working as a security guard and it was during the night of her first stay with her father that the incident occurred.”</p>



<p>The victim, Modupe narrated in her statement, how she begged her father not to rape her, but all her pleas fell on deaf ears and he later gave her N1,000 to buy drugs to flush her system.</p>



<p>In his confessional statement, Jacob, a father of four who hails from Edo State, admitted to the crime but blamed it on the devil as he was not really aware that he was doing it.</p>



<p>The spokesman said the NSCDC Commandant, Iskilu Makinde, has been briefed on the incident and the suspect will be charged to court after the completion of ongoing investigations.</p>
