Man Arrested For Trying To Load 'MoMo' Account With Fake Currency

A young man in Berekum has been arrested after he tried to load his Mobile Money (MoMo) account with fake currency.

The suspect, Richmond Asamoah was arrested by the resident of Berekum as he tried to defraud an operator with the fake currency.

According to Emmanuel the ‘MoMo’ operator, Richmond Asamoah requested to load his mobile account with a sum of Gh¢500. Upon examination, he (Emmanuel) noticed that the currencies were fake.

He then argued with the suspect who tried to run away and was chased by some ‘area boys’ who apprehended him.

“He came to my shop to load GHc500 but as I took my pen to write down his number I noticed the notes were fake because they didn’t have the same features as the other notes but he began to argue with me,” he said.

The suspect, Richmond Asamoah is currently at the local police station while they investigate the matter.
