Mason Greenwood, A Striker For Manchester United, Was Dismissed From The Team Following Claims Of Abuse (Details)

Mason Greenwood, a forward for Manchester United, will leave the team by mutual consent following a six-month internal probe into his behavior.

Greenwood was detained in January 2022 as a result of suspicions involving online-published content.

The 21-year-old England international was cleared of charges on February 2, 2023, including attempted rape and violence.
Mason and everyone else involved, including Manchester United, acknowledge the challenges of having him restart his career there, the club said in a statement.

Therefore, it has been decided that doing so outside of Old Trafford would be most appropriate. We will now cooperate with Mason to make that happen.

“Based on the information at our disposal, we have come to the conclusion that the internet content did not present a complete picture and that Mason did not conduct the offenses for which he was first charged. Having said that, Mason publicly acknowledged his shortcomings today and accepted responsibility for them.

Greenwood acknowledged “making mistakes” and taking “share of responsibility” in a statement, but he also said: “I did not do the things I was accused of.”
He said, “Manchester United, my family, and I worked together to come to today’s decision. The greatest choice for all of us is for me to carry on with my football career elsewhere, away from Old Trafford, where my presence won’t cause the team any trouble. I appreciate the club’s assistance ever since I joined at the age of seven. There will always be a United part of me.

“I owe a great deal of gratitude to my family and all of my loved ones for their support, and now it’s up to me to earn their confidence back. I want to improve as a player and, more significantly, as a father and a person, and I want to make good use of my abilities both on and off the field.
