Mentally Ill Shot Dead By Police for Storming Station With Machete

A young man alleged to be mentally unstable has been shot down by the police in Akyem Kwabeng for storming the Police Station with a machete threatening to kill.

OccupyGh.com has gathered that Owusu Akyem, stormed the police station on Sunday 1st September, 2019 while yielding a machete. Owusu Akyem is said to be suffering from a hay fever according to friends close to him.

A SWAT team was said to have been called in by the Akyem Kwabeng police as they locked themselves up in a charge office, fearing for their lives.

Upon the arrival of the SWAT Team, the deceased was said to have attacked the team with the machete he was carrying, compelling the officers to fire shots to deter him.

Owusu Akyem was shot as he continued to advance. Reports gathered indicates that he was then rushed to the Ebgresi Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the PRO of the Eastern Regional Police Command has revealed that investigation to the shooting has since then commenced.
