Quincy Jones, the iconic music producer behind some of the world’s greatest hits, has died at age 91. The news was confirmed by his publicist, Arnold Robinson, on November 4, 2024, with Jones’ family issuing a heartfelt statement celebrating his legacy.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts… we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him,” the family shared.

Born in Chicago in 1933, Jones’ musical journey began at age seven, learning piano from a neighbor and further inspired by his mother’s singing.

After his parents’ divorce, he moved to Washington State, where he excelled in high school bands, even performing alongside legends like Billie Holiday and a young Ray Charles.

His prolific career, spanning over 70 years, saw him work with stars like Michael Jackson—producing the iconic Thriller album—Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles.

Jones’ contributions, which transcended generations and genres, will be remembered as a foundation of modern music, with his family saying,

“Through his music and boundless love, Quincy Jones’s heart will beat for eternity.”
