MP-Elect For Gomoa Central Kwame A Plus Threatens To Expose Ghana’s Cocoa Industry And Tarnish It’s Image To The International Market

Member of Parliament-elect Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has threatened to ensure Ghana is banned from the international cocoa market if farmers are not treated fairly after the new government takes over.

A Plus plans to embark on a campaign to gather evidence of child labor on cocoa farms, which he will share with international bodies to push for Ghana’s ban from the global cocoa market.

This move is motivated by his belief that farmers have been exploited for far too long, and it’s time for change.

The MP-elect took to social media to express his frustration, criticizing the government for prioritizing tree-planting projects while neglecting the welfare of cocoa farmers.

He specifically targeted Abu Jinapor, calling out the government’s perceived hypocrisy in spending massive budgets on projects like neem tree exports.

A Plus’s threat comes at a time when Ghana’s cocoa industry is already facing pressure from the European Union, which has threatened to ban cocoa imports from Ghana due to concerns over deforestation and illegal mining.
