My Records In Roads Making In The History Of Ghana Is Unmatched — Akufo-Addo Brags

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has touted his administration’s achievements in road infrastructure, claiming it has delivered more projects than any other government in Ghana’s history.

The President made this assertion on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, during the commissioning of the Flowerpot Interchange in Accra.

Speaking at the event, the President highlighted key projects completed under his administration. “In the Greater Accra region alone, we have completed the Pokuase Interchange, Tema Motorway Interchange Phase 1, Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange Phase 1, the East Legon underpass, and today, this Flowerpot Interchange,” he stated.

Beyond Accra, he noted milestones in other regions, such as the first-ever interchanges in Suhum (Eastern Region) and Tamale (Northern Region). “Each of these projects tells a story of commitment, foresight, and a Ghana that is continuously moving forward,” he remarked.

The President also provided updates on ongoing projects, revealing that 14 interchanges are currently under construction across the country.

In Greater Accra, these include Obetsebi Lamptey Phase 2, Nungua Adjiringanor, Kpong Barrier Prampram, Dawhenya Savannah, and Tema Motorway Phase 2. The Ashanti Region is witnessing progress on the Suame Interchange Phase 1, Anumangye Maakro Magazine New Road, Abusuakruwa, and Abrepo projects, while the PTC Interchange in Takoradi leads developments in the Western Region.

“These projects underscore our commitment to creating a safer, smoother, and more efficient transportation network, enhancing riding quality and supporting socioeconomic growth,” President Akufo-Addo said. He also urged motorists to observe road safety regulations and drive responsibly to protect lives.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Titus-Glover, praised the Flowerpot Interchange as a testament to the President’s dedication to infrastructure development. He announced plans to commission a new office complex for the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council in the coming weeks. He also cautioned against littering or setting up kiosks near the newly completed interchange, stressing the need to maintain its cleanliness and functionality.

The Flowerpot Interchange is expected to ease traffic congestion along the Spintex Road, improving access and connectivity within the capital. The ceremony drew government officials, community leaders, and residents, many of whom lauded the administration for prioritizing road infrastructure development.

The President’s focus on roads and interchanges forms a central part of his government’s broader agenda to modernize Ghana’s infrastructure, boost productivity, and drive economic transformation.
