Netizens Outraged as Video Shows Chinese Nationals Treated Differently in Galamsey Arrest

A viral video has surfaced online showing the arrest of 20 illegal miners (Galamsey operators), including two Chinese nationals, at New Abirem by the Operation Halt task force.

The video captured a controversial moment when the Ghanaian suspects were made to kneel or sit on the floor, while the two Chinese nationals were seen sitting comfortably on plastic chairs. This apparent disparity in treatment has sparked outrage across social media platforms.

Many netizens have expressed frustration, calling out what they see as preferential treatment towards the foreign suspects.

Comments flooded in, with users like @sevenn6 and @BLivelyf condemning the scene, arguing that such differential treatment undermines the fight against galamsey in Ghana.

Others, like @withAlvin_, pointed out the irony, suggesting that a Ghanaian suspect in China would not receive such lenient treatment.

The incident has reignited conversations around justice, equality, and the role of foreign nationals in Ghana’s illegal mining crisis.

While the Operation Halt task force continues to address galamsey activities, this event has cast doubt on the fairness and effectiveness of their operations.

Public demands for an explanation are growing as questions about the task force’s handling of foreign suspects in these situations intensify.
