The Times Square billboard that is visible on Broadway Times Square in New York City features the late Nigerian rapper and vocalist Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
After Mohbad passed away a week prior in an unsolved accident.
In the Victoria Island neighbourhood of Lagos, Nigerian musicians David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, Falz, and Zlatan Ibile took part in the candlelight parade in memory of the late Afrobeats icon Mohbad. Ilerioluwa Aloba, 27, passed away in Lagos for an unexplained reason.
Nigerians have been demanding a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of his death ever since he passed away. They asked the authorities to look into the situation more thoroughly.
Even though there have been demonstrations in some areas of the nation, the parade on Thursday is an attempt to further demand justice for the late artist.
Around 7:18 o’clock, the parade began as hundreds of young people arrived to honour the gifted musician.
In the UK’s Peckham neighbourhood, Peckham Square is hosting a related event. In videos that went popular on social media, participants could be heard singing the late rapper’s songs.
The procession occurs immediately after the rapper’s body was exhumed and an autopsy on the remains was finished by Lagos State police.
In a widely shared video, Davido was seen guarding his beverage inside a disposable cup. He also declined the opened bottle that one of his helpers offered him.
