Niger Coup: The Coup Confirmed By Soldiers On State Television

The resignation of President Mohamed Bazoum was announced on national television by the military in Niger late on July 26.

The 10 staff members belonged to diverse security architecture institutions, as indicated by their uniforms.

Col. Major Amadou Abdramane, the announcer, and the other nine people lined up behind him.

The proclamation announced the dismissal of Bazoum and also abolished the nation’s institutions, suspended the constitution, and closed its borders.

Early developments of the day:

The presidential palace and other ministries in Niamey, the capital of Niger, reportedly had soldiers manning barricades.

The president was allegedly at home with his family when talks to end the crisis were underway.

The house was surrounded by military men.
