Sad: Nigerian Singer Wale Quits Music

Celebrated singer and songwriter, Aituaje Aina Vivian Iruobe, who goes by the moniker Waje, has quit music to pursue other interests.

She made the announcement in a video on social media which has gone viral and sighted by this news portal.

According to her, no funds, lack of promotion and support for her music influenced her decision to say bye to music.

“I’m quitting music because I don’t have money for music promotions and publicity.

People were shouting Waje release album, I did where are they now?” she quizzed in the viral video

Waje said she would rather put her money in other business than invest in music that isn’t helping her financial needs.

“I have so many responsibilities to take care of and my music keeps taking the bulk of my money, I’m not willing to put in money there again.

Maybe it’s fair to give music a rest, for now. I can’t have released an album after everybody has been shouting ‘Waje, your last album is how many years ago?’ All the people that were shouting, where are they?

My daughter’s school fees is there. It’s like I have ten things laid out for me every time but it has always been my music taking the bulk of the money. I am not willing to put money there anymore.” she said

Waje released her most highly anticipated second album Red Velvet in 2018, five years after her debut album Waje. We understand she was not impressed with the low monetary turnout from the album and was disappointed because people demanded her to release it.

The album Red Velvet is a melange of the singer’s diverse styles, streamlined and tailored around the central theme of love. Waje’s retirement will be a huge loss to the entertainment industry as there are few women in the industry.
