The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced its decision to withdraw from all Media General platforms, citing persistent bias and unprofessionalism in the media group’s political coverage.
This move comes after months of attempts to address concerns with Media General’s management, production teams, and hosts regarding unfair treatment and attacks on leading party figures.
According to the NPP, despite assurances of reform, the concerns have persisted. The party specifically cited an incident on a program hosted by Keminni Amanor, where a guest made inflammatory remarks about former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The NPP accused the host of condoning the comments by failing to intervene.
The party also criticized political shows like Key Points and Newday for regularly assembling panels skewed in favor of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), leaving NPP representatives outnumbered.

The NPP claimed that their efforts to push for balanced and objective coverage have “fallen on pretentious deaf ears.”
The NPP assured its members and the public that this withdrawal would not affect its commitment to holding the government accountable. The party instructed all members to comply with the directive until further notice.
In response to the boycott, controversial Ghanaian broadcast journalist Captain Smart described the NPP’s decision as a bad move, urging the party to focus on resolving their internal challenges instead of targeting the media.
