Afia recently broke down live on social media in response to the Tourism Minister’s proposal to promote funerals as tourist attractions.
Afia complained over experiencing the suffering of orphans, and she called the minister’s choice to make money off of funerals callous.
Some followers responded to this by requesting that she never cry in front of the camera again since it makes her appear unattractive.

Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Minister of tourist, Arts, and Culture, alluded to a prospective change in the nation’s tourist policy that would lead to an increase in “funeral tourism” as a way to support the regional tourism business.
Dr. Awal thinks the planned project is a rare chance to introduce the globe to Ghana’s rich culture and customs, even though certain industry players may not take too kindly to it.
Dr. Awal outlined his idea for “funeral tourism,” emphasising that funerals in Ghana were not just sombre occasions but also lively celebrations of life that provided an insight into the country’s various cultures.
He contends that exhibiting these customs will give visitors a genuine and comprehensive look at culture.
“We will discover funerals in locations with tourism attractions. Following the burial, the attendees will be fed sobolo and other regional fare before being transported by bus to these tourist sites.
Burials are voluntary, and Ghanaians adore them. We will make the announcement that we can travel to Bonwire when there is a funeral here. There are people selling Kente, and visitors will spend money there.
“Since we are busing them for free, they will buy food and antiques when we arrive in that location, where there are eateries. The local economy will benefit from them. Therefore, we will use funerals to strengthen our cultural treasures and consequently provide employment for our kids, he said.
It’s interesting to note that opposition to the Minister’s proposal has called for a better strategy.
Such critics contend that turning funerals into tourist attractions runs the risk of commercialising such a sensitive and intimate occasion.
Concerns have also been raised regarding honouring the preferences and privacy of bereaved families.
