In a disturbing trend that threatens the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process, a young man was arrested today at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency (Legon Campus) for taking a photo of his ballot paper after casting his vote.

According to Article 49(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, “Elections shall be by secret ballot.” This provision emphasizes the importance of protecting the integrity and confidentiality of the electoral process by not disclosing one’s choices.

However, in a worrying trend, some individuals have been sharing photos of their ballot papers on social media after voting.

This not only compromises the secrecy of the ballot but also undermines the trust and credibility of the electoral process.

The arrested young man’s actions were caught on camera, and the video has been circulating on social media. The police were seen apprehending the special voter for taking a photo of his ballot paper.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has emphasized the importance of maintaining the secrecy of the ballot.

According to the Commission, voters are expected to keep their choices confidential and not disclose them to anyone.
