A statue of President Nana Akufo-Addo, unveiled last month at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital roundabout in the Western Region, has been vandalized.
The incident, which occurred at an unknown time, has left a portion of the statue destroyed.
The statue’s unveiling had sparked widespread controversy, with many questioning the President’s decision to erect a monument in his own honor.
Social media platforms were flooded with comments, asking what significant achievements the President had made to warrant such recognition. Others criticized the location of the statue, pointing out that it was situated on an uncompleted road.
Rumors had circulated that some individuals were planning to pull down the statue, prompting the state to allegedly station a policeman to protect it. Although the statue remained standing after the elections, the issue of its removal continued to be debated.
The recent vandalism has raised questions about the motives behind the attack. While some may view it as an act of defiance against the President, others may see it as a senseless act of destruction.
The identity of the perpetrator remains unknown, and it is unclear whether the authorities will launch an investigation into the incident.
