Upon Everything I Did For Them They Didn’t Even Vote – Minister For Trade And Industry KT Hammond

KT Hammond, Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has expressed disappointment and frustration with his constituents following his recent defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

KT Hammond, who has served as MP for the constituency since 2001, felt that his hard work and dedication to the area would have earned him another term in office.

“I’ve worked hard for this constituency, and I thought that would be appreciated at the polls,” KT Hammond stated.

“But politics is full of surprises, and it’s clear that the people wanted a change.” KT Hammond noted that he had gone to great lengths to connect with his constituents, even visiting areas that were difficult to access.

“Places that cars couldn’t go, I had to walk and visit them,” he said. “Places that even during my youthful age I wasn’t going, I went there in my old age.”

Despite his efforts, KT Hammond was shocked and saddened by the low voter turnout in his constituency. “So, when election day came, people refused to go and vote, and I was asking them why,” he said.

“They said they needed money.” KT Hammond expressed frustration that his constituents would request money when he had already provided them with essential services like roads and potable water.

KT Hammond’s defeat marks the end of his sixth term as MP for Adansi Asokwa. He has been a member of the New Patriotic Party since 2001 and has served on various committees, including the Finance Committee and the Mines and Energy Committee ¹.
