A young man who has been identified as Powei Cyril has been whipped mercilessly and paraded around his community for stealing solar light battery at Bayelsa State in Nigeria.
According to a source who was at the scene, Powei Cyril was caught trying to steal the solar light battery at the early hours of Tuesday by some member in the community.
He was asked to strip down and was whipped 60 strokes of the cane. He was later paraded around the community with a placard which reads: ‘I Am A Professional Solar Light Battery Thief’.
Powei Cyril was nearly banished from the community after he was caught in the act of stealing but an elder in the community recommended that he should rather be lashed and paraded around the community to deter others.
