
<p>After returning from abroad to teach in the Upper West region of the United States and complaining that life there is too &#8220;boring,&#8221; a Ghanaian teacher did something unprecedented.</p>



<p>When Wilfred Akapanga visited the United States, he states he had the option of staying there but decided to return home because of the way of life he saw other Ghanaians leading there.</p>



<p>Akapanga told Adesuafie.com that because he cherishes his freedom and believes that Ghanaians overseas, especially those without documents, have no freedom to enjoy life, he would rather go back home and educate than lead such a life.</p>



<p>I had the chance to flee so that I would stay (abroad), but I didn&#8217;t,&#8221; he is reported as saying. People were shocked that I had my passport with me when we travelled abroad for a programme. Normally, on those occasions, they would confiscate your passport out of concern that you may flee, but I was in possession of my passport and all of my belongings. But absolutely nothing inspired me to consider that,&#8221;</p>



<p>&#8220;I spent about a week living in a Ghanaian family home. Apparently, the man was living with his nephew, whom we never saw during those days,&#8221; he continued. What caused this? He only came out to work at night because he hadn&#8217;t completed his paperwork properly.</p>



<p>&#8220;What did I say? Is that the way life is around here? The nature of life there is that a man and a wife might not see each other for a week when they are both residing in the same home. I didn&#8217;t want that life, though some people would. I adore having the ability to conduct my life as I please and believe that pleasure is the key to success.</p>



<p>Many internet users said they would instantly switch Ghana for the United States if given the chance after being shocked by Akapanga&#8217;s statement!</p>
