If not for the quick action of his classmates who hurried to the scene to save him, a student would already be dead. The victim, a level 300 student at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, was allegedly beaten by some fellow students after they believed him to be a thief.
According to the report, the victim and his companions were out and about on campus late one night during their SRC week celebration when one of them announced that he had to go to a nature call.
He had to enter the bush behind one of the hostels because they weren’t closer to the hostel; however, after waiting for a while, he didn’t return, forcing the victim and the other companions to go looking for him.
The victim and his other pals decided to investigate the hostel closer to the bush he had entered, speculating that he may have gone there to see someone or may have gone there to use their restroom since he was afraid of the bush.
The victim was reportedly wandering around one of the floors when a student stepped out of his dorm, noticed him, and enquired as to why he was there.
He gave the student a brief explanation of his goal, and the student requested him to visit one particular room to see if his friend was present. The student complied and entered.
Upon entering, the student identified the victim to his buddies as the nighttime hostel burglar who he had seen wandering down the hallway looking for items to take.
His pals arrived on the scene to save him after they jumped on him without listening to him and began hitting him with sticks and cables.
