
<p>Along with his wife and a few of his business partners, Bob Menendez, a U.S. senator, has been charged with bribery and corruption-related offences.</p>



<p>Wael Hana, Jose Uribe, and Fred Daibes, as well as Asid the senator&#8217;s wife Nadine Arslanian Menendez and business associates.</p>



<p>Menendez and his wife are charged with taking &#8220;hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes&#8221; in return for their influence.</p>



<p>Gold, cash, home mortgage payments, remuneration for a &#8220;low-or-no-show job,&#8221; and a luxury automobile, according to the prosecution, were among the bribes offered.</p>



<p>According to CNN, a search of Bob Menenedez&#8217;s residence as part of the inquiry turned up about $500,000 in cash, including in packets concealed inside jackets bearing Menendez&#8217;s name.</p>



<p>A &#8220;luxury vehicle paid for by [Jose] Uribe parked in the garage,&#8221; as well as home decor from other business associates and gold bars, were also discovered by federal agents who examined Menendez&#8217;s house.</p>



<p>The case has been compared to that of Ghana&#8217;s own Sanitation Minister Cecilia Dapaah, who is also indicted after large sums of cash were discovered at her home.</p>



<p>One person on social media speculated in response to Menendez&#8217;s indictment as to whether he would make some of the justifications Dapaah has made for the money discovered at her residence.</p>



<p>It might have been a present from his late sister&#8217;s grandparents, right?Or donations for funerals,&#8221; X User Akromah commented.</p>
