American Widow Loses $1.5M to Ghanaian Scammer, Takes Own Life in Tragedy

In a disheartening piece of news available, a 57-year-old American widow Laura Kowal took her own life after being swindled out of $1.5 million by a Ghanaian scammer she met on an online dating site.

Believing she was in a relationship with a man named Frank Borg, Laura was unaware that her online suitor was using stolen photos of a Chilean doctor operating from Ghana.

Federal agents uncovered the scam, but not before Laura’s devastating loss.

In a heart-wrenching suicide note, Laura revealed her desperation and fear, stating that she had been living a double life and was trapped in the scam.

Laura’s loved ones are left to grieve and seek justice for her untimely passing.

She left a note before her untimely incident:

‘I’ve been living a double life this past year. It has left me broke and broken. Yes, it involves Frank, the man I met through online dating. I tried to stop this, many times, but I knew I would end up dead,’.
