Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, for allegedly stabbing her husband, Kelechi Nzemechi, 31, to death.
A statement released by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, revealed that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Oluchi admitted that her husband had lured her into internet fraud, also known as ‘yahoo yahoo.’ Okoye stated that Oluchi confessed to having a heated argument with the deceased on June 2 after he failed to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had fraudulently obtained from a victim in Indonesia. During the argument, she used a kitchen knife to stab him in the upper part of his body.
“The suspect further revealed that in a bid to cover up her criminal act, she swiftly wrote on a piece of paper, ‘You think you can eat my money and go free… I am baba for the boys, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family,’ and placed it on the lifeless body of the victim before fleeing the house,” Okoye said. “She also stated that she had been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child with him.”
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
