Christian Atsu To Be Buried At His Hometown In The Volta Region

On the 6th of February 2023, ex-Black Stars player Atsu went missing in the immediate aftermath of the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake.

The player was feared to be part of those trapped under the rubble of Hatayspor’s headquarters located in Antakya following the massive quake.

On the 14th of February, his agent confirmed two pairs of his shoes belonging to the player had been found, but that Atsu himself was still yet to be found.

On the 18th of February, confirmation was obtained by his agent that his body was recovered from the rubble of the building he was living in. News outlets announced his death at approximately 6 a.m. GMT.

Christian Atsu will be laid to rest on the 17th Of March, 2023. He will be buried in Dogobome in the Volta Region of Ghana.
